If you already have a Jellyfin, Emby or Plex server with your own library, Filoteca can show it with its own interface and your TV remote. Only movies and series are read: these servers do not provide live channels.
Jellyfin and Emby
- Settings → Sources → Add source → On my network → Jellyfin (or Emby).
- Fill in:
- Provider name.
- Server (URL), for example
https://jellyfin.mydomain.comorhttps://emby.mydomain.com. If the server is at home, use its local address with the port (for examplehttp://192.168.1.20:8096). - Username and Password of your account on that server.
- Press “Connect”.
Plex
- Settings → Sources → Add source → On my network → Plex (“Your Plex server”).
- Fill in Provider name, Server (URL) (for example
https://plex.mydomain.com:32400) and the Plex token. Plex does not use a username and password here. - To get the token: in Plex Web, open any title, press “Get Info” and then “View XML”; the token is what appears after
X-Plex-Token=in the address. - Press “Connect”.
Syncing what you have watched
In Filoteca's settings, the “Sync what I watch with my servers” option saves your playback position and what you have already watched to Jellyfin, Emby and Plex, so you see the same thing in their own apps. Another option, “Only my libraries”, limits what is shown to your own libraries.
If the server is on your local network
It works from the Android/Fire TV and Windows apps. The device must be on the same network as the server. The web demo cannot reach servers on your local network.
Common problems
| Message | What to do |
|---|---|
| “Wrong username or password, or inactive account.” | Check the details you use to sign in to the server itself. |
| “The server could not be reached. Check the address. If it is on your local network, connect it from the Android app.” | Check the URL (with http:// or https:// and the port) and that the server is on and reachable from that device. |
| “The Plex server does not accept that token.” | Copy the token again, without spaces or the rest of the address. |
