Web browserDemo onlyRead-only demo at filoteca.com; it does not support your own sources
Samsung (Tizen), LG (webOS), Roku, Apple TV, iPhone/iPadNoThere is no app for these systems

The app is not on Google Play: you install it from the APK file offered at filoteca.com/download (see installing on Android TV and Fire TV).

  • Memory: at least 2 GB of RAM. With 1 GB or less, or with a very old WebView, the app shows the “This device is on the low side” notice and suggests a more powerful device (a recent Fire TV Stick, a Chromecast with Google TV or an Android box).
  • Video: H.264 plays on every model; HEVC, 4K and HDR depend on the device.
  • Audio: Dolby and DTS are processed in software, so they may not sound the same as on a dedicated player.
  • WebView: the interface uses the system WebView. On devices without Google Play or with an old WebView it may run slowly or fail to open.

Android TV and Fire TV

They work with the TV remote: no touch screen is needed. On a TV, setup is easiest with “Add from your phone”: you scan a code with your phone and enter your details there instead of typing them with the remote.

Windows

There is an installer and a portable version (nothing to install; you run it straight from the file). Optionally, Filoteca Hub is a Windows service that keeps working while the app is closed (scheduled recording, sync and network-shared folders). See installing on Windows.

Which sources work on each platform

  • M3U lists, Xtream, Jellyfin, Emby and Plex: on all the apps.
  • Stalker/MAG portal, local folders, SMB, FTP, SFTP and DLNA: only in the Android/Fire TV and Windows apps (they need the native part of the app).
  • SMB: among desktop systems, only on Windows.
