Filoteca Connect turns your phone into the remote for your TV or your PC running Filoteca, without installing anything on the TV other than the app itself. The devices talk over your home Wi‑Fi network; nothing goes through the internet.
Pairing
On the TV (or on Windows):
- Settings → Devices. Check that “Allow phone remote” is on (it is on by default on TV and Windows).
- Choose “Use your phone as a remote”: the TV shows a QR code.
On the phone, there are two ways:
- Scan the QR with the camera: the remote opens in the browser and connects by itself, with nothing to install.
- From the app: Settings → Devices → “Use your phone as a remote”, choose the TV from the list and enter the 4-digit code the TV shows (valid once and for 2 minutes).
If the TV does not appear, type its address under “Not showing up? Type its address…” (the TV shows it under “My network”). Up to 8 phones can be paired per TV.
Using the remote
The remote has navigation buttons, “Search on the TV…”, “Channels”, “Options”, “Home”, “Voice”, “Menu”, “Close” and previous/next. You can also launch titles with “Watch on…” (guide).
To remove a pairing: “Forget this TV” (on the phone) or “Forget the phones” (on the TV).
See on your phone what is playing on your TVs
Only in the Android phone app. With Settings → Devices → “Show what is playing on my TVs” (off by default), the phone shows a notification with artwork, pause, next, stop and volume while a paired TV is playing something. You must pair a TV first. Android must allow Filoteca's notifications.
If they cannot see each other
- The TV and phone must be on the same Wi‑Fi; a guest network or the router's “client isolation” stops them seeing each other.
- No VPN on the phone.
- Open Filoteca on the TV and check that “Allow phone remote” is on.
- “The TV no longer recognises this phone”: pair again.
- “Too many attempts. Wait a minute.”: wait and try again.
