There are two ways to watch on the TV what you pick on your phone: “Watch on…” (another TV or PC running Filoteca) and Chromecast.
“Watch on…” (another screen running Filoteca)
- Pair first the TV with the phone (Your phone as a remote).
- Open the movie or series detail page and press “Watch on…” (the icon next to “Play”, or in the ⋯ menu).
- Choose the device in the “Play on” window. You can also choose “Pair another device (PC, TV)…”.
- The TV starts playing “from the minute you had reached”. When it ends, the phone offers “Resume”.
Both devices must be on the same Wi‑Fi network.
| Message | What to do |
|---|---|
| “Pair a TV or a PC first…” | Pair using “Use this phone as a remote”. |
| “‘{name}’ does not have this title. Sync your devices…” | The other screen does not have that source; sync or add the source there. |
| “‘{name}’ no longer recognises you: pair it again.” | Repeat the pairing. |
| “‘{name}’ was not found on the network. Is it on and on the same WiFi?” | Switch Filoteca on on the TV and check the Wi‑Fi. |
Casting to Chromecast
- Open a movie or a channel on your phone.
- Press “Cast to TV” in the player's top bar.
- In the “Cast to…” window choose your Chromecast or TV. It must be on the same Wi‑Fi network as the phone.
- You control the cast from the phone: previous/next, ±10 s, volume and “Stop casting”.
Before connecting, Filoteca checks whether the TV will be able to open that source and warns you if not: for example, when the server asks for a username or headers that the Chromecast does not send, when the list is protected, or when Dolby/DTS audio or HEVC/4K video may not play on that Chromecast. Anything downloaded on the phone cannot be cast.
